Freezing rim

I love how we know it’s going to be freezing
at sunrise
at Point Imperial (North Rim, Grand Canyon),
but it still seems shocking.

Oh boy, I wish I was there right now.

Great picture, thank you.

I don't know, Wombat....it's beautiful, but if it's freezing I don't think I would wish I was there.

Hate to be the one to break it to you Wombat... but I don't think you could get there right now.

The lodge itself at the North Rim closes mid-late October(usually between the 15th-20th), depending on snowfall, and the road into the North Rim closes by first snowfall. I haven't been watching the weather in AZ recently, but my suspicion, based on past autumns, is that it's closed.I think you'll have to wait until it reopens in May.

OR, you could start out at the South Rim and hike to the North Rim... but people who do that in winter don't always have a good outcome, so I'd personally recommend waiting until it's reopened. :-)

Daisy, freezing, in July. What does he think it's going to be like in October?

Amanda, wombats are covered with hair, so maybe the cold doesn't bother him? Although, I bet "The Wombat" is not completely covered with hair!

An EXCELLENT point, Daisy. I didn't think about that. He's above and beyond us mere mortals huh? Ah, to be a Wombat...

I'm guessing not completely covered in hair either, but... since he won't accomodate our request for a photo...

Thanks Scorpy. It's an amazingly gorgeous place and I love it to death. :) You've got the ocean, I've got a ton of photos of the canyon.
