The first time was at the end of May, when it was still snowing (as per the Nymph Lake photo from yesterday) but more surreal as a result.
A couple of years later I went back in October, to see the vistas missed previously. It was magic in a different kind of way.
So it seems we have seen a different place...I'd go back anytime.
Plus: there's always the danger that the whole lot will go KERBLOOEE without notice, which I think adds to the piquancy.
(For those not familiar with Yellowstone NP, KERBLOOEE refers to the fact that the whole place lies in a gigunda volcano's caldera, giving rise to all the geo-thermal activity there.)
Once. I've been once, and I swore I wouldn't go back. (Which I hate to say, because I normally love and adore National Parks.) Now though, I'm actually thinking I missed something...
Wombat, you are expanding my vocabulary today...kerblooee and gigunda all in one day?
That is a pretty touchable looking bison. I want to pet it!
What I find striking about the photo is the contrast of newness of the baby bison and the background of dead trees. (The asphalt doesn't hurt it either.)
I'm up for it. (It's a travel opportunity: what do you expect me to say?!?!) Like I said, I never thought I'd want to see Yellowstone again, but I'm rethinking my stance. I'm open to being convinced, how's that sound?
We're going to need transport larger than the Mustang convertible for everyone to remain on speaking terms.
What about an old yellow school bus with "Kerblooee or Bust" painted on the side?
Plenty of room for beer coolers and cheese storage. Heck, we could rig a deep frier up and make our own fresh deep-fried curds while the Beasts are chillin'.
And for Duck, a desk and computer so he can keep up the 1500 words a day for the novel.
Yes, I'm thinking that with Duck's desk, Jo's espresso machine, and the deep frier, not to mention the extensive refrigeration, we are going to need a real rock 'n' roll tour bus.

OMG! This is great!
Oh he's just sooooooooooooooo adorable!
Give him 2 years and he'll be dangerous, but right now, what a cutie pie! Where is this one taken?
Another from Yellowstone National Park, Amanda.
How cool is that - Bison on Bitumen? :)
aw... too cute!
He looks fluffy still.
I think we've seen a different Yellowstone, Wombat. Honestly. You're making this up. You have to be... right?
I agree DC!
I've been to Yellowstone twice, Amanda.

Jo, I submit that we should grab Amanda and visit Kerblooee National Park and contemplate the gigunda explosion we're sitting upon.
And we could check out the baby bears, baby bison and Old Faithful too.
Cool.

Well then, that road trip is Maine, Memphis, Montana and Yellowstone.
I'm in!
-Wombat
Oh, me too!
And we're leaving... when? I'll be in Memphis in less than two weeks!
Jo and I might have to meet you there, Amanda.
Good.
Someone else remember a camera please? And cross your fingers for mine to be back from the shop in time for the trip!
Amanda, I've got it covered!
Sweet! We're set then Jo!
You'll bring the camera, I'll grab fresh curds fro Wombat, and that should be about all we need.
If I bring the beer that I will pick up from the Wisconsin trip, can I tag along? I would love to make a trip back to Kerblooee NP.
The more, the merrier.
There are only a couple of rules to this road trip:
1. Must drink beer
2. Must love cheese
3. Must be crazy
Am I missing any others? Wombat? Jo?
That just about covers it Amanda.

What say you all?
Let's see....
Beer, cheese, and crazy? I can live with those rules.
I'm gonna need a coffee maker. So, yeah, it's gonna take a bus, Wombat.
Maybe Duck can dedicate the book to one of the furry beasts.
Oh god, that's going to be an uncomfortable ride, Wombat.
But necessary I guess.
Do we need to hire a designated driver or do we take turns?
I'm thinking this could be a lot of fun.
Anyone else in?

I agree. Which will - of course! - include comfy seats. Right? Because I have not-so-fond memories of long trips on a school bus.
