Thanks, amanda! The views were perfect are perfect from right about there (just below the summit bergschrund, where the glacier peels away from the summit ice). The summit crater itself is so broad and flat (albeit split down the middle by a rocky crest) that all you can see are other volcanoes off in the distance. This last time when we were there, some ice collapsed into one of the fumaroles on Mt. Baker, and a huge pillar of steam rose into the sky. My partner looked at me and said, "Is that a volcano erupting over there? Because, you know, we're standing on a volcano right here!"
